School-based mentoring takes place…In School! An adult volunteer chooses to work with a student (who is also choosing to work with the adult) for an hour and a half a week.

Both individuals spend time together, during school, working on school work and developing a relationship.
Adults meet with students during Core Support Classes, Recess, Lunch Periods, or other times during the school day.
Walk into the Gunnison Middle School Library throughout the day and most likely you will see a partnership working diligently on school work — or having fun playing a game while quietly talking!
The School-based Program has a track record of increasing school performances while also building relationships. Also, at times, our School-based partnerships move into a Community-based Partnership because they do not want to lose the connection over the summer.
