Community-Based Mentoring
|
Partners One-to-one Mentoring program seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- To develop a close and caring relationship between the Junior Partner and Senior Partner.
- To assist the junior Partner in creating conditions which improve the sense of self-esteem and self-confidence.
- To increase the Junior Partners sense of self-worth, effectiveness, ability to cope, and general state of happiness.
To assist the Junior Partner in developing a level of moral judgment that takes into account the effect of one's decisions and actions on other people, as well as on oneself. |

|
- The Partnership:
Both Partners agree to spend at least three hours a week together for a year. Everyone in a Partnership is a volunteer, including the child and Parent(s) or Guardian(s). This matched relationship offers each youth in the program the opportunity to strengthen feelings of self-worth, improve academics, develop social skills, decrease delinquent behavior, and increase the ability to cope with stress. |
